All About Apples

Apples are steeped in the folklore and mythology of numerous cultures. In the Norse underworld, apples supposedly kept gods and goddesses immortal. Legendary British leader King Arthur went to Avalon—literally, “Isle of Apples”—to live in a wondrous paradise. Even the romantic King Solomon of the Bible made reference to the fruit, wishing to be “comforted with apples,” for he was “sick with love.”

Though few associate apples with India, the country’s incredible geographic diversity enables certain states to grow delicious apple varieties.
