Main ingredients of Vasika Lehyam: Adhatoda beddomei (Adalodakam) has number of traditional medicinal uses. It has been used as an antispasmodic, bronchodilator, and mucolytic agent in asthma and other respiratory conditions and febrifuge. Vasicine, the active compound, has been compared to theophylline. vasicinone, showed bronchodilatory activity and bronchoconstrictory activity . it is probably biotransformed, causing bronchoconstriction. Both the alkaloids in combination showed pronounced bronchodilatory activity in vivo and in vitro. Vasicine also exhibited strong respiratory stimulant activity,Clinical trials of a commercial drug containing vasicinone and vasicinone have not revealed any side effects while treating bronchial asthma. Piper longum: Long pepper is most commonly used to treat respiratory infections such as cough, bronchitis and asthma. It can also be used to treat stomachaches, diseases of the spleen and tumors. When applied externally, it soothes and relieves muscular pains and inflammation. |
